Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at our Contact page if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Our preparations are formulated with botanical and raw ingredients from the earth. The primary focus of our craftsmanship is the optimization of natural binding agents, essential oils, and natural preservatives. We do not use premixed bases, and we try our best to use little to no synthetic ingredients or harsh chemicals when possible.

No, but handmade products could possibly contain less chemicals. Although everything in nature has a chemical makeup, we are referring to lab created mixtures (synthetic ingredients) when we say "chemicals".

Handmade products are prepared by hand, instead of being manufactured by larger companies on larger machines. Some may contain synthetic ingredients.

Natural products are marketed as “clean, plant-based, vegan, non-toxic, cruelty free,” etc. Some may contain preservatives or other questionable ingredients that could be considered potentially harmful. This includes products made with organic and certified ingredients.

All Natural products only contain substances in their original element, either single or combined with others, to make a finished product. Also marketed as completely chemical free. There are strict regulations on labeling products as 'All Natural'.

Both. We would love to consider all of our handmade products as 'All Natural'. For clarity, we label products containing alcohol, witch hazel, and aloe vera juice as 'Natural' because they may contain unknown ingredients for preservation or stabilization.

*Products that contain fragrance oils are labeled by us as 'Handmade'.

Carrier Oils known as lipids, contain fat and absorbs better into the skin and hair. The oil is extracted from plant seeds, fruit, and nuts (coconut, avocado, sweet almond, and olive oil). Also good for dilution and used for cooking.

Essential Oils are extracted from flowers, leaves, bark, and resin from plants and trees. Usually more costly than carrier oils and fragrance oils. Essential oils are very concentrated and should be used carefully. Many have herbal scents and are used in aromatherapy, (ancient) medicine, and cosmetics (peppermint, frankincense, lavender).

Fragrance Oils are lab created with chemical mixtures that can mock just about any scent. The scents are usually very aromatic and longer lasting. Fragrance oils are used in perfume, air fresheners, cosmetics, etc.

*There are variations of fragrance oils, which are natural & synthetic. The natural fragrance oil is a newer option. It is lab created but extracted from plants and modified.

Mineral oil (Liquid Paraffin, White Oil) is a by-product of petroleum and usually less expensive than carrier oils. It is very thin and does not absorb well, creating a film that traps dirt and bacteria. This can cause the hair and skin to be very oily and clog pores.

Our products are not tested on animals. We test them on ourselves as well as volunteers, many who have become regular customers. We recommend everyone to do a small patch area test before complete application of our products.

When ingredients such as butters and coconut oil are in their rawest form, they may melt or thicken depending on the temperature. This is a very natural occurrence, even when the contents are mixed with other ingredients. The consistency may change back and forth in some products, but it will not affect the quality.

We are able to maintain affordable prices by utilizing quality ingredients. This allows us to formulate products that are beneficial without wasting resources on unnecessary fillers.
